Morecambe Bay: the walk along the promenade, the wide view across the water and the feeling that the holiday had begun. Which part takes you back?

Everybody remembers a different Morecambe
For one family, Morecambe might have meant a week away and a familiar guest house. For another, it was a coach trip, a train journey or a few hours beside the sea before heading home. The place stays the same in a photograph, but the memories around it are personal.
Look at the photograph and think beyond the building. Who were you with? What did you take for the journey? Was there a shop you always visited, a favourite place to eat or a particular stretch of promenade where someone took a family picture?
The small details bring the holiday back
A postcard, a hotel receipt or a name written on the back of a photograph can help place a memory. You do not need an exact date: an approximate year or a decade is a useful beginning. If a place has changed its name, include the name you remember as well as where it stood.
This page is a starting point for collecting those stories. There is room for local memories as well as holiday memories: working in the town, meeting friends after school or taking visiting relatives out for the day.
